All those Luxe caps are really just the same Vitamin Q type paper and oil caps inside. Your paying extra for them to look vintage correct.

You should be able to get a par of Vitamin Qs for around $30 or less on eBay.

Hey if any of you guys want some sweet, affordable LP caps I have some Sprague .015 Vitamin Q's on the way MLP members $20 a pair includes S&H to USA.
I use the 1950's Sprague Bumble Bee's and black beauties all the time. I source them from used audio gear and cut them out myself. They do have the "Holy Grail" Tone, but are getting expensive and hard to find. I have jars full in different values.
The Modern Sprague Oil Caps will come very close to the same tone at a fraction. Don't be fooled by Oil caps covered in plastic, like eddie just said you are paying extra for the vintage look. You can find a Real set of .022's for $50-$75 bucks..don't waste your money on repro's.

I only have one pair of the .022's left :) if thats what you are looking for. I usually save those to put in a Vintage 59' CTS 500k long-shaft Les Paul Custom Harness. Probably have .018, .015, in the Bees, I use the .047's for my Tele rigs. I have some Sprague 60's Black Beauties in different values as well. Let me know what you are looking for or feel free to give me a call...

I came across this article from another post:

Premier Guitar - Auditioning Tone Capacitors, Part II - Apr 2008 - Premier Guitar magazine has the latest in guitar information and equipment along with music interviews, product reviews and much more.

In it the author quotes: "One thing to be aware of is the Gibson "replicas" from their Historic series. These caps only look like bumblebees; I x-rayed and also opened some of them, and inside there is a cheap, standard film cap, masked with a Bumblebee cover. "

Anybody else hear about this, or am I out of the loop??

You could also go to ebay and get 10-20 PIO caps russian milspec for less than $30.00. Theres even a booteek site selling the same caps for a lot more $$. I put some in my R8 to replace the phoney BB caps gibby put in and they sound great along with RS pots. No cap is worth 60 bones. I got the 22's very nice!!

you can use a pair of .018s, or go with a .015 neck and .018 bridge.

I use a .010 neck and .015 bridge (they actually measure .013 and .018 though).

It you want the tone, and aren't worried about the correct color stripes, save some money and use these other values.

I totally agree, your guitar does not know what color the stripes are...good TONE is good TONE. The .015's & .018's sound great and to be quite truthful most people don't have a good enough ear to tell a .022 from a .018, they are just that close....
