Post some pictures utvol, it's the only way we can give a definate answer.
My digital camera is broke but I'll try and get 1 to post some more detailed pics. Here are the ebay listing pics but they aren't very close up so don't know if you will be able to tell much.

utvol, my Epiphone lp ultra is made in china and mine says les paul ultra on the "top" (truss rod cover)
It looks almost identical to mine, havent heard of a fake ultra...
I dont think fakers would be bothered with all the differences.
Edit: does your guitar have the body contour groove? Cant tell from that pic.

Well snare, it looks ok to me. If you plan on buying it, ask for a pic of the back of the headstock to be 100% sure.

I'm sorry, but that's indeed a fake. You should start a claim with ebay and paypal. Also, send an email with pictures to Gibson (service@gibson.com) and ask them to verify it's a fake, in case paypal asks for an official confirmation.

Just check the first page of this thread, the signs are pretty obvious. Also, check the other guitars he's selling. He also uses the same pictures for other auctions, never a good sign.
As for returning it, sure he offers that. That way he can go on scamming people without ebay taking notice of him. Do you want him to continue to con other people?

I see that he sells lots of these fakes and nobody seems aware there fakes and that really annoys me to think he is getting away with this. I will certainly take this farther so hopefully other people don't get stung! I'm just a little worried if i report him straight away he will not give me my money back.

As long as you paid with paypal you're safe. You have 45 days (I believe) to open a claim with them. Once you've opened it, they give you 10 days to send them an official confirmation that the guitar you've bought is a fake.
It can sometimes take a few days until Gibson gets back to you, but since you've already contacted them it should be safe for you to open the dispute today.
