Hi guys!

I just found this forum a few weeks ago while researching what sort of VOS LP to buy, and I ended up finding a great deal on a brand new R6.

I see that most of the discussion here is on bursts and buckers, so I'd like to get some advice and opinions on the repro p-90 covers and 56 pickguards that are available. I'm not too concerned about the metal hardware looking authentic, but the plastic on my R6 stands out like dogs balls.

I've got a local dealer that stocks Montreux repro parts, are these highly regarded?

Welcome! Yes those are very good quality repro parts. Please post up some pics of your guitar. Btw there are plenty of P90 addicts around here!

Will do, I've got a couple of pics on my camera at home, I'll put them up tonight.

I'm taking it to Guitar Emporium in Melbourne on the weekend to get a proper setup done, as it's a bit buzzy and the intonation is out. Gotta get rid of those pink P-90 covers too!

Hopefully my Gibson Vintage Reissue 10-46 strings arrive in the mail by then :fingersx:

I've always loved goldtops (had an Gold Epi Les Paul years ago) and the price on this one was right (US$3500). Over here an R6 retails for US$6500!

Nice LP! Is that a gloss finish or did you buff the VOS?

I love that beast... nice sweet neck-PU and a biting bridge-PU... it's excellent and the best sister I could think of for my R9 (also darkburst)...

Cheers

R6 Goldtops are available for approx. 3700-3800 US$ here in Europe...

Thanks so much for the great info guys, I should have my R6 looking like a real one in no time. I've already got a set of single line klusons with nice keys on the way and I'm just trying to decide between the Fatboy or Montreux P-90 covers but I'm leaning towards the Montreux.

Looks like the Fatboy P-90 covers are back in stock :D

I think they're a bit better value at AU$50 a pair rather than the Montreux for AU$70 EACH

What parts have you changed on your R6 kingedb? Looks beautiful!

thanks man! it's 100% stock right now. well aside from strap locks which don't count as an upgrade in my opinion.

the only thing i plan on changing are the pots. i like the caps so there's no need to swap those. i've had RS pots sitting here for about 3 months. i am just starting to get itchy so i will probably upgrade soon. pics will follow!:dude:

Ahh, yours is a 2009 R6 then? The proper colored P-90 covers are a dead giveaway, and I'm assuming that yours has a non-wire ABR and a straight slot screw in the pickguard too?

Mine is a 2008 so I've had to replace the godawful pink pickup covers with fatboys.

My single line Klusons arrived in the mail today but I think I'll take some more pics when all my new parts are fitted :thumb:
