I am tempted to buy this Tokai LS60. Looks in amazing shape and I can scoop it up for about $500. Just not sure on the value of the LS60's in this shape/year and if it is too much or a great deal? It has the '57 PAF pups and a short tenon but overall the body looks pristine. Any opinions are appreciated, as always guys. Cheers

I'd say you'd better snag it before it get's snagged by someone else.

The only thing about it is this:

But to me that is just a ding on the backside and it caused the poly to crack as a result. That definitely does not look to be in the wood itself. What do you think?

Oh yeah...I could get this or a 1982 black Super Real Greco for around the same price (with Screamin '82 pups)....it is a tough call! Ahhhh I do not know what to choose!

Hmmm...didn't see that. Almost looks like the crack extends to both side of the neck (something funky under the finish?). That's the drawback about buying online. If you could just hold it your hands, you'd see so much more.

Both Greco Super Reals and Tokai's are the closest to vintage 59 construction and body specs, older MIJ LP's you can find. (and some Burny's and Navigators of course)

I'd love to have a Super Real :), got pics?

A little more relic'ed i.e. "used" than the Tokai but still gorgeous and no issues with the neck. I am lacking a burst/flame topped guitar as it stands right now but black is always nice! :D

Well, if it was me, and you ain't me, I'd get the Tokai. That's lookin' more and more like it's just a finish crack. The Greco doesn't have the more desirable top carve. Glad I'm not you, I doubt I could make up my mind! :laugh2: I'm bad at that!

Unless...hmmm...what kind of pu's are in the Greco? Oh, you said Screamin, hmmm...well...Good Luck!

Sorry, hopefully you'll get another opinion. I tried. :slash:

If the Greco is 82' or later it will be closer to a 50's top carve, long neck tenon, if it matters, Super Reals have a more curved middle section between the pickups, pretty much like all early Grecos, not a real 50's feature but, the higher end ones do have Brazillian boards though. Alot of 82's have a chunky neck which I like. I have an 82' EG59-70, It's got one of the chunkiest Greco necks I've ever had but, my favorite necks are Tokai's ;) so, no help from me either!! get the Tokai.

Doh! They are both so nice. I think I can get the Greco for less...possibly $125 or so less. Mmmm?? My Burny has a really nice chunky 50's neck on it which I love!

I think the neck on that Tokai is safe but anyone else have thoughts on it? Looks like it is just a poly crack.

I'd jump on both! Those are crazy good deals. Although that crack on the Tokai would have me biting my nails until the guitar arrived for close up inspection.

Yeah I think that crack is safe. Being poly (harder) I would assume it was hit and the impact just made that crack either side. Even if it were a crack into the wood, the placement and size would have no effect on the structural strength of the head/neck. There is just not enough there to cause any sort of flexing etc.

Total after shipping would be around $650 in Canuck dollars - still worth it? My friend ships it to me and it usually costs $120 or so.
