Anyone have any opinion on Nut Sauce vs Tune-It? I’ve been using Nut Sauce and it’s brilliant. Absolutely amazing product in my eyes/ears. Just can’t stomach the price here in Europe. For the same price of Nut you can get 10x the amount In a tube of Tune-It.

I bought some Tune-It to test but not used yet.

Anyone have any input?

Ps, tried the Gibson pump. Amazing. Smell alone is 10/10 :applause:

Thanks. I just added TuneI-It from Nomad Music to my wish list, like I did with their F1 Fretboard oil a few moths ago.

I use Big Bends Nut Sauce and fretboard oil, but Music Nomad have some very good tools and products for maintenance.

Tune-It is doing the same job as Nut Sauce and is less expensive (at least here in EU).
A little goes a long way, so I guess it's down to preference.

Gibson pump polish is my favourite too :)

Hey! :dude:

That’s cool! Glad to help! I was so skeptical of Music Nomad when I first started buying the products as I’m old and like tried and tested stuff. BUT I have to say they have really impressed me so far. I have the string lube also and guitar matt. Now Tune It. Great products.

I’ll report back here once I actually use the stuff.

Gibson pump smell :hippie:

Just use a lead pencil lol
Problem being I get a dark residue all over. And never as easy putting that stuff on the bridge without it going everywhere.

That tube is like 10 eur and will last years I hope.

I just use a little Vaseline. That or get a nylon or bone nut and you won’t need any type of goo.
I’ve found Gibson’s especially are really tricky without some lube. I’ve had/played so many that ping and ding when tuning at bridge or tuner post. It’s a real crap shot. Lube for me is a must. Vaseline isn’t too far from that product, but they contain no petroleum.

Also I may add I get zero tuning problems. No G string ping ding or any tuning instability what so ever with a new 22 60’s standard. I cannot say the same for other Les Pauls I’ve owned. 93 standard and 96 were terrrrible. A 2004 was also terrible. Nothing helped. So for me I’ll keep the tradition going and lube up with this one :cool2:

It’s that synthetic nut Gibson uses. The nylon nuts never ping or ding. You take the guitar out of the case and it’s still in tune from the last time you used it. No need for nut sauce ever.

New Gibson use Graphtech nuts. Must say I’m impressed for sure. Propitiatory material so it’s hard to say what it is.

That’s what the website says. That is neither bone nor nylon. Bone is easy to work with, not sure why they don’t use it. Nylon is a much harder material and is not easy to work with. But Gibson has been using nylon on Custom Shop models for a number of years.

Good to know! Thanks for the info. Explains the colour shift (more white) than USA standard range.

The nylon nuts look slightly translucent compared to bone or synthetic. I think they are also what Gibson was using in the 50’s but some people argue that 50’s nylon is different than modern nylon chemically.

I never have a need for lube since Gibson went to Graphtech nuts. All of my guitars have Graphtech, bone or nylon nuts. I threw out my tube of nut sauce.

From my experience, the two best options have been:

1. lead pencil

2. Carmex lip balm

It is.
The stuff they used in the 50s is extremely toxic to make and hasn't been commercially available for a long time.
@LtDave32 has used both types and can give the details on the differences.

I think Youtuber Nilered made some of the nasty stuff a couple of years ago.

Custom Shop has been using nylon since 2009.
