Hi all,

Im wondering about the necks on these 2019 Gibson 1960 Les Paul Standard Reissue in general.
Its says 60's Slim Taper "C"
Is that the same as on the old Gibson les paul Classic from the 90's?
When it comes to the 2018 Historic Collection 1960 Les Paul Standard the spec says Authentic '60 Slim C-Shape

So are there a difference between the 2018 and the 2019 neck? Im getting confused. I have the opportunity to buy one from 2019 but I dont want it to be a flat neck.

The C on the 2019 stands for a C shape of course so it shouldnt be flat right?
But how about the 2018, Authentic slim C? hehe what does that mean?
Is the 2019 an anti authentic :)?

Have you guys been able to compare both?
I have tried a 2018 in the past and liked it, but I dont know anything about the 2019 version.

Sorry for a messed up thread, but im just out in the void here, I have none experience of both of these different neck profiles compared to each other, if there are any really?

Would really really appreciate your expertise on this one.

Stay safe!

Mine is a 2017 R0, and I think the neck is great. It measures 0.86” at the first fret, and definitely has less “shoulder” than my R9, which measures 0.90/1st fret. I like them both. I think the “slim taper” neck is more in the realm of 0.80/1st fret (I don’t know that for sure.) I also have one of those - an ‘87 ES 335 that measures 0.80/1st fret and it definitely feels a lot slimmer. It still feels good, but it definitely doesn’t feel “chunky” like the R9 does. I don’t think you need to worry about the neck being flat, though. As far as I can tell that isn’t a thing with the R models.

you can pretty much bank on something close to .82-.92, and if you’re expecting a true C you’re probably gonna be disappointed. My 2019 was not flat back like a true slim taper, but not an honest C.

They are hand finished. There’s no consistent results. The only true 60s C historic I have ever owned was on a G0, which is a 30/60 neck, which was just like a 59 C carve but smaller overall proportions. That was my favorite neck of all of them.

IMO the difference between the '18 and '19 R0 will be negligible. I believe they are more rounded than the classic necks.

I watch the R0s that go thru Wildwood and neck specs I've seen at the 1st are anywhere between .77 and .86.

I despise sellers that cant buy a $10 mic and measure their guitar necks.

I just pass right by those sellers these days.
