We have XM in my wife's car. When I'm driving she puts on Lithium or Pearl Jam Radio. It's great!

I've had it for years, since way before the merger. I will never get rid of it, as I like radio, but terrestrial radio is worse than dead as far as I'm concerned. (Even in large markets, but more so now that I live in nowheresville.)

And, strangely enough, I have really only 1 station that I listen to : 30 The Loft (billed as "eclectic Adult Alternative", whatever that means ?). It is one of the more "freeform" style stations that is actually curated by humans (cool humans in fact), and has a good mixture of music and programming. And I like the disc jockies. In fact, the reason I'm there is that the pre-merger Sirius station I liked (Disorder) was Program Directed by one of the DJ's that is now on The Loft (but she is not the PD).

Whenever they have something going on that is not to my taste, I'll venture off to the usual Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, Deep Tracks, Outlaw Country, Spectrum, Bluesville, or just scroll around until I find something I like for a bit.

I've got "lifetime" subscription for my car (11 years now), plus have it in my RV for long drives as well as a dockable unit that I can move between other vehicles and use inside the house. (I even have a dock installed on my tractor ! ) Pandora and the other streaming services have just never clicked for me. I have my phone loaded with like 24 DAYS of music that I selected myself, and it on random play is like my own private radio station, but I still prefer SiriusXM most of the time.

For those of you have have Sirius XM radio, what are your 6 presets?

Mine:

1) The Spectrum
2) Lithium
3) Classic Vinyl
4) Pearl Jam Radio
5) Deep Tracks
6) Ozzy's Boneyard

The Spectrum is my favorite. They play the best of both new and old rock music. Lithium is my bread and butter for 90's alternative but the DJ's and inbetweens are annoying. Classic Vinyl for classic rock and good DJ's. Pearl Jam radio because they're one of my favorite bands and air great live performances. Deep Tracks for good songs from popular artists that aren't as popular. Ozzy's Boneyard for heavy classic rock and old Sabbath.

I have 1 and 2..
3. Alt Nation
4 Eighties on Eight - For Erin
5 Watercolors - Light Jazz
6 Real Jazz
7 NPR

I love 1&2 and the DJ on Lithium is great, IMO.

When I got my truck, I had 90 days worth of XM. I was sick of it within about a week, except for the stand up comedy channels. The music stations have a playlist, and I never want to hear someone else's choices in music. There are commercials, and banal chatter about the music they'd just played (or were about to) that was made to sound like some revelation, but it was usually stuff I already knew.

Agree +. Only thing is I didn't even find the comedy channels sustained my interest for very long.

Weren't they both in chapter 11 about a hundred times already, then they merged and went chapter 11 another hundred times, lol

Glorified terrestrial radio I say, haaarrruuumph

I just brought a car for my wife and received 3 months for free and like it.
I also noticed they were running ads so I logged into my account and checked out the specials.
I received 6 more months for 24.95.
In total I have 9 months for 25 bucks

60's (6)
70's (7)
80's (80)
classic vinyl (25)
classic rewind (26)

These are the ones I listen too when I can beg my wife to drive her car instead of mine...:hmm:

unfortunately, i've found that isn't much there that i can't get elsewhere. The only reason i'd consider shelling out the $$$ is for howard, and it turns out you can download shows in torrent format anyway so there's no reason for that either

I have a life time membership, I never did a preset thing. I can't figure that out but I have the rest of my lift to get on that one. I get a nagging cough I will hope right on that baby.

Hey kp,

What's the lifetime subscription go for? I just renewed mine earlier this month and had to speak with two different people to get it for the same price that I've had for since I get it in '14.

Thanks!

Could not live without my XM now - probably the only reason I keep my company car is XM - because my vehicles don't have it and Im too cheap to add a receiver to them.

They don't really want you to get the "Lifetime" subscription. The normal CS reps won't even tell you about it (may not even know ?). I had to escalate it to like 3rd level supervisor when I got mine. And like everything about S-XM, the rate is "variable" - I think they quote it based upon how many existing years you've had, etc.

Mine was $350 and I got it after my 3rd year. Had it 8 more years since.

But they won't let me add my 2 other radios to it, so they get me for a yearly account for those two radios. Still worth it to me.

All of the DJs on every station are annoying. There is some tool with the stage name of "Grant Random" on Octane who takes annoying to a new level. It's like a high school kid saying inappropriate stuff for the sake of being inappropriate and thinking that it is funny. The music selections are mostly driven by algorithms. There is no need for moronic banter between songs. A f*cking iPOd can do the job for crying out loud. This garbage is a large part of why I didn't renew, this year.

There's this girl named Madison that drives me crazy. Her voice is super irritating and she obnoxiously sings along to some of the songs played on Lithium and ALT Nation. I wish she would disappear.

Some of the DJ's are alright. I like when they give me updates and good information on some of the bands I like. I always like when Matt Pinfield shares a story about a band.
