Olympian Merritt faces suspension over steroids - CNN.com

(CNN) -- U.S. Olympic gold medallist LaShawn Merritt faces a suspension of up to two years after testing positive for banned steroids, which he said was the inadvertent result of taking an over-the-counter "male enhancement" pill.

In a statement issued through his attorney, Merritt said he has accepted a provisional suspension after drug tests found the steroids DHEA and pregnenolone in his system.

"To know that I've tested positive as a result of product that I used for personal reasons is extremely difficult to wrap my hands around," he said.

:laugh2: I suspect its all about the funding,a person would say they slept with a chicken if it otherwise meant no more cheques.

They probably are banned in the Olympics, Im not denying that or offering I know. What I do know is this

Those 2 substances are over the counter and you can get them at walmart. The first one in doses of about 200mg per day or so will up your test slightly and some other benefits that everyone can feel. The second is a progesterone precursor but, is mostly involved with neurological functions like, reaction time, focuss and memory....General cognitive functions.

Most people hear "steroid" and think they are taking testosterone or nandrolone or other strong androgen's, the bar for Olympic tested athletes are so strict you can pop very very easily.

Most pro athletes are on steroids its a fact and a fact of life. They get around it with suspension formulas as apposed to thing suspended in oil. You can put a super fast acting ester in water, that you cant ( or not commonly) put in in oil (getting off topic)

The fact of the matter is they all do it and this is extremely minor (in reality) but not for the olympic comission
