Xmas fights

My family (parents, bro's family, his in-laws) all seem to get on really well.
We've all got together for xmas for years.
Never any fights/disagreements and always seem to have a good time.
Only mention it because so many other people tell me what a crap time they had with their families over xmas.
Seems strange to me.
Is it because I'm not married myself?

Well, not being married dramatically reduces the amount of fights in your life, so...

Moreover, I used to be married, but not anymore. The holidays, to me, are a lot more peaceful now.

Even when I was common-law with my son's mom, I got on fine with her family. I was the only family member from my side out in California, so she couldn't piss any of mine off.

It depends how close it was to xmas or making xmas arrangements.
Had you paid for her xmas gift already, or was this solely to get out of paying for it in the first place?

I lucked out this year all the kids are with
my x's, my oldest in Ireland with my two grankids
and my sister went to a freinds house, so i had
the place to myself, it really was nice to tell the
truth.

Yes, I did. She wouldn't take it (A Squier Tele starter package with a Fender amp). She left my gifts behind. I kept my gifts. The guitar will go towards a good cause.

I'm not a Christmas person. I hate all the material stuff and commercialism that the Christmas season brings with it - thus I'm a grouch during the holidays. My wife and I get along better from the 25th on than the month leading up to Christmas.

so yes there are fights - I've learned to let her do her thing and I just keep my mouth shut as much as possible.

None here. 3 different get togethers lugging around 2 little ones. All smooth, thankfully. I love the holidays. Always have.

I cut all ties from all my blood relatives over 17 years ago, so it's been blissfully peaceful.

They tend to live for the drama. Silly, silly people.

My entire family has always got together for Christmas and I don't ever remember a cross word or anything like that ever happening. We are a close family.

To us that's what Christmas is all about!

Never experienced this phenomenon...my family gets along really well and it's all fun!

Nice that my wife is Jewish so we don't have family fights over who gets us on Christmas Day etc...it's always the same...Chanukah with her families and Christmas with mine. It will overlap someday...we'll see what happens but i'm sure we can work it out without raising our voices.
