They're bolt-ons. I can't speak for buds, but we bought my nephew one a few years ago and I tooled around on it. I liked it okay, I didn't know much about neck profiles and what not at the time... but I remember it being on the thinner side.

I seriously put about a total of 10 play hours on it before I upgraded. Everything is flawless. I will check on the bolt on neck. I cant remember but DJ must be right.
