Would drilling holes into a Slash Les Paul devalue the guitar?

Yep, I wouldn't even worry about it. You can see here, I put the screws back in when I take the pick guard off, not a big deal.

I'm guessing any modifications that change a signature guitar from its original specs will impact the value. Someone looking for a bone stock Slash without the pickguard would probably want a discount for the pickguard holes.

You could just do a 2015 guard and rings - the clicked together and no holes drilled in the guitar.

What a great suggestion. I’ve never seen these.

Still haven’t added the pickguard. Waiting on some humbucker covers. I don’t like the pickguard on without the covers. I will post an update when they get here. I was gonna go with double cream pickups, but i think I like the cover idea better.

Isn’t there a pickguard available that clips onto the pickup rings?
Possibly one year, or more but they didn't look particularly robust, being made of plastic. Tabs stuck to the guard and tucked under the rings would work just as well. Easy to do, and likely to withstand on and off a lot longer.

That sort of physical modification, small as it is, could knock a tiny bit off of the sale price, as it would on any guitar.

Gibson Slashes ship with uninstalled pickguards and no drill holes?!?

I did it anyway. Someone out there I’m sure would appreciate it. A collector probably wouldn’t, but I rather a player but it at a decent price

Well, the bad news is you lowered the value of your guitar. The good news is it looks great. If you like it enough and don’t plan on selling it, aftermarket value means nothing. :)
