Not a bad song. But was Pharrel the best option available for vocals? If MJ was still around he would have killed it. Even the guy from Maroon 5 would have served this song better.

I agree the vocals are mediocre at best. You can hear the bad doubling and pitch artifacts. Music sounds good though.

Agree.

They've basically written a disco song, but the vocals and melody are weak. A great guitar bit that deserves to be paired with a better vocalist.

Strangely enough, if it wasn't for that guitar, Stevie Ray Vaughan wouldn't have got his break when he did.

More? I would like to know about that story.

Nile Rodgers produced Bowie's Let's Dance album, played on the it as well, SRV played lead guitar and was supposed to go on tour with Bowie. It didn't work out that way but Vaughan was on the credits of a 15 million selling album... which no doubt got some attention beyond the blues world.

Thanks. I knew about him playing on the album. If I recall correctly he didn't go on tour because Bowie wanted to pay him as "just another musician".
What I don't get is the correlation with: "if it wasn't for that guitar". What has the guitar itself to do with SRV playing or getting on the album?

as a follow up to a previous post...about Nile Rogers working with SRV on Bowie's Let's Dance album.
Niles Rogers also produced and played on
the Vaughan Brothers Family Style album released about a month after Stevie Ray died.
