Hi all, long time reader, first time poster. I have a '92 Epiphone Les Paul standard and figured it was time to upgrade the pots and change the wiring to the 50's style. I took the back cover plate to see what I had to work with and noticed mine had a harness attached to it. I have never seen this on any of the posts here and was curious to see if this was common. Do I unsolder it and replace the parts or is there an after market harness I could just connect to it? Also, is it standard for Epi Les Paul's to come with 500k volume and tone pots?

Welcome.

I had that stock on mine. It comes from the switch. Then goes to each vol pot and the jack. I removed mine and ran all new wires. I don't think it hurts your tone at all. If you are going to re wire it, it would be up to you if you wanted to eliminate it or not.
