What's wrong with Wine Red LP Customs?

I don't have one and wish I did. That's what.

For me, it's about seeing the wood. That's the sole reason I have a Wine and Honey Burst Custom.

Solid colours hide that maple top goodness IMO.

Totally with you. Had a white custom and returned it in favor of a tobacco.

I have a '71. Refinished thin nitro, natural, before I owned it. I also previously owned a 20th Anniversary Custom, also Mick Ronsonized. I'm getting bored with the natural look, and have an itch to refinish. But I must see the grain. That's just me.

Black and white are too pedestrian, and opaque. Wine red, though I like the color, is also common. I'm torn between restoration, which would be black, as shown in the pickup and body cavities. Or something exotic.

Btw way I hate cherry bursts unless very faded/washed.

Being already compromised..would a black refinish restore some value? And something unusual further devalue it? Just for the sake of my progeny. I don't plan on ever selling this one.
Frankly I bought them because they had been refinished which cut their value in half. It didn't hurt that I was a big Ronson fan though.

IBlack Customs are for show offs and poseurs, all flash, big hair, stroppiness and car crash chords, players who totally believe they are better than they are and boy are they happy to believe it! :naughty:

I do have big hair.

Nothing is wrong with them!! Hey, I have a Black Custom, but I still like Wino Red Les Pauls. Obviously, a Wino Red is less common than a Black......A Wino Red Custom is on my wish list!!:dude::slash::applause:

I'd buy one if I didn't already have my silverburst. I have no idea why they sell for less than other finishes, but take advantage of it and grab one!

I would think black is the least expensive since they are a dime a dozen. Wine red Customs look great.

In my experience any player sporting a white custom is expected to be better than they actually are and the audience are generally left disappointed. That's why I flogged mine, couldn't take the apathy. Black Customs are for show offs and poseurs, all flash, big hair, stroppiness and car crash chords, players who totally believe they are better than they are and boy are they happy to believe it!

You buy a wine red if you don't want to be noticed!:thumb:

I haven't heard that much feldercarb assigned to a paint color since my spousal unit went for a "color reading" (yeah, it's a thing).

Looking at the sales figures I realized the Black customs are the most expensive whilst the Red Wine ones are sometimes really cheap. :wow:

Same guitar, age, just a different color.

A good example would be this listing which ended recently, being a descent looking 1981 Wine Red LPC, gone for $1,850. The same year/condition in black would be at least $600 more.

Lovely Burgundy Red 1981 Les Paul Custom w OHSC | eBay

:dude:

___________

Very nice guitar, in excellent condition as well. It was built in the 44th day of the year, that would make it a Valentines Day Red Wine & Dine.

Ebay is all about timing, when people need cash fast, they make low BIN deals usually during the day while most are at work. My best deals were during the 9-5 hours.

thanks for sharing that, there is hope yet.

I like red wine on a custom, but I love it better in my glass.

Personally I feel that black and white customs are the "everyone and their mother have one kinda thing" I love wine red customs, and silver burst, and sunburst, and natural....... As I go to guitar center and stare at the add to cart button:shock:
