I got a Les Paul Studio when I was 14, because I was a huge Slash fan. The funny thing is, when Appetite for Destruction was first released, my parents wouldn't let me buy it because it was "way too sleazy"; especially for a 9 year old. When I wanted a Les Paul because Slash played one, they didn't object one bit. The moral I got out of it was : it's not okay to listen to sleazy music if you don't play an instrument...but if you intend to live the sleazy rock star life, idolizing a sleazy rock star is aok! Something like that!
My Gibson 08 standard pre-update with 60's neck, because my next purchase is going to be an engagement ring...so...it was either now at age 20...or .....age40?? lol
Mine was an Alpine White Studio that I got out of hock for a buddy for $300 about ten years ago. I had it for a couple of years before he had the money to get it back from me.
My first was an Epi LP because I wanted an LP real bad, but couldn't afford a Gibby.
A couple years later I sold it and two other "cheapies" and bought an '07 Standard, which was 6 mos old. I always wanted a Standard, and this has been a beauty to play.
My first LP was a Sigma (Tokai) Les Paul Custom. It also was my first electric guitar. It wasn´t a bad guitar but I never fell in love with ist. I bought it because my guitar teacher recommended it. One day I just threw it away. I couldn´t stand the fact that is was just a copy of something I couldn´t afford. That´s why I ended up playing Washburn and Ibanez for many years.
A 1971 Deluxe with fitted humbuckers in Cherry Sunburst. I'd played Fenders up to then but I fell in love with the colour and bought it without even playing it . For the life of me I can't remember how much i paid. I've still got it.
My First LP was an Epi sunburst Standard, this week i bought my first Gibson LP an Ebony 1998 Standard. Why:Because I love the Sound of a LP and some of my favorite guitar Players play our played on it.
'07 Custom. I went in to get some strings for my SG.
I didn't buy that particular Silverburst but it ignited the fire.
Bought this one the very next day...now look at me.
'79 Pro Deluxe. It had been sitting in a music store for a while, neglected because LP Customs with HBs were all the rage then and the Pro Deluxe has P 90s. I always dug the slide tone that Al Wilson got out of a P90 equipped GT with Canned Heat and I got a great deal, so I replaced my Strat with it.
