It seems there was a large consensus that the 2015 line of Gibson Les Paul guitars were not to the liking of most Gibson players.

If that is indeed a fact then why are there no blowout sales or deep discounts on them. If they didn't sell they have to be hiding in a store or warehouse somewhere...

I kind of want one to fool around with, but not for the price of a new 2016...

From what I have heard, they have been donated to North Korea as a peace offering from the US. This cruel joke towards NK will only increase tensions, in my opinion.

They are only good for one thing - firewood.

Are you kidding? The internet has been full of them for ages - I couldn't open eBay for seeing brand new '15 juniors for under £500 over the last six months.

Step 1 Gibson, take your current stock of 2015 guitars, pick the best tops, strip them, and fit them with proper necks, no deathbed signature, no crazy nut, and try to regain some of them failed 2015 earnings:naughty::naughty::naughty:

Then sell them as liberated 2015 models in 2016:naughty:

There was massive gibson 2015 sales, but they happened between September and November 2015, I paid 650$ for my studio, not faded (new off amazon), I don't know about in the shops though, I'm not in the US and where I live I don't have good shops...

They have been selling the 2015's off a reduced rates since September, if not earlier, 2015. I picked up a Junior, removed the G-Farce, but I still sold it after 6 weeks. Just didn't like the feel of that neck. A shame because the fit and finish was great and with the hard case for the price I paid it was a bargain. However, no point keeping if I'm not going to play it.

There are still some 2015's out there to be had for decent prices.

My local store sent all his back to the distributor. He also will not stock the HP line, special order only.

I know of a couple of 2015s still hanging on a store's wall. They also have some of the low end 2014's also. Once upon a time guitars weren't sold by the year and may have been in a store for quite a while.

Indeed, it seems to have become like the car market now with the new next models released 6 months before the new year!

Another store near me has a SGJ from 2014 which he cannot move at all.

My first Gibson, actually first guitar I bought, was a 1989 Studio, which I bought in 1991. It had been hanging in the store for two years. Got a good price on that.

Gibson is trying to create demand in a market where we generally don't discard a guitar every year or two. OK, some of the MLP members excluded. I wish Gibson would just have models that had features that stuck around for a few years and that weren't date dependent (new year, new features). They really could have just repurposed those Peaces with a quick hardware change.

That same store does have several 2014 LPJs too. The sales guy said that in 2014 they moved at a pretty good clip, but then they fell into a kind of limbo where they cost as much as a new shiny Epiphone but were now "old" guitars. Also they are behind the counter with the other Gibsons so they're not getting noticed as much as the PRS SE, Fenders and Epiphones.

Honestly, I think there are many satisfied '15 owners and many still willing to buy one. In the end remember the ones who are upset speak a lot more than the ones who are satisfied and skews it to look like there are a lot more upset then in reality.

some poor bastard in 50 years is going to be paying premium for these sonsabitches from his birth year (I can confirm, I did it myself, lol). He'll have plenty to choose from, just like I did, although comparing my beloved Norlins to this claptrap is doing them disservice, I do have to be honest with myself about how they're regarded by the vintage crew.

Maybe not in the US, but here the prices went down like crazy. They could be found at those prices two or three months ago (the prices seem to have gone up since for the ones left):
Junior: Down to 500€
Classic: Down to 1100€
Deluxe: Down to 1300€
Traditional: Down to 1300€
LPM: Down to 600€
Studio: Down to 700€

The best deals were from DV247 and MusicStore (I wish I had bought that seafoam Green Classic at that price)

There's been some great deals on the 15's.

You snooze. You lose.

I think what happens is some people wait for the deal to get better and they miss out. What's a good deal to one person, may not be so good to another.

Yeah, I saw tons of deep discounts on the 2015s over the summer (just before the 2016s were released in the fall) and then in the fall as well. Not sure what the OP is referring to.

We still have a few left at Chuck Levin's in MD, call us: 301 946 8808. We can even replace the robo tuners on them free of charge for some klusons if you like.

EDIT: and yes we are blowing them out.
