Why isn't this a normal production Les Paul?

I just ran across a Custom Shop Les Paul Tak Matsumoto Double Cut on ebay. Never seen or heard of the guitar or the guy before. But WOW is all I have to say. I wish I had the $$ to blow!

I don't see why Gibson wouldn't offer that body shape as USA model. With studio, standard and custom versions. I would certainly buy one if it sounded like a normal les paul and wasn't priced outrageous.

what artist signature models aren't overpriced? ;)

I think I saw both Gibson USA and and epi model Matsumoto's on Gibson's website.

I also think they are pretty cool...just not $5,000 cool :)

Overpriced, but I like the double cut on it as much as a regular DC.

I think it's too similar to a regular DC standard, which they don't seem to sell a ton of anyways.

Yes the body shape is very similar to a PRS, but I like PRS guitars so maybe that's why I think these are so cool. The only thing I don't like about it besides the price is only 3 knobs, but I could live with that. I like the current DC models as well, but those are more of a classic look, while this is like a mix of modern and classic design.

I like it. If it was available and not priced to crazy I would be rocking one.

HOLY BRAZ! I hadn't even looked at his other items. This guy has more Brazilian rosewood than he knows what to do with! That is a BIG and EXPENSIVE collection of guitars, and to have them all for sale at once? And he doesn't even play them!?

Its a cool guitar. Once again Gibson shows us a great product, and places it in the wrong place in the market. Too expensive.

I like it, though not the color. Get a nice burst going with prime wood... I like the body better than the standard double cutaway. Perhaps a tremolo system of some sort.

I don't mind the shape, but I want my 2vol/2tone layout. To me, that where a big part of the magic lives.
