Oh Jamman....you just missed it.

We were all sitting by the campfire, playing guitars, eatin' Smore's and singing Kumbaya.

Sorry, Bro!

Maybe collectors should stick to baseball cards, or comic books, and stay away from our guitars.

Bastards.

Unecessary. People fly economy for a low price because other people pay to go business...same with Gibson guitars. No need to slag anyone off.

If Gibson started re-issuing any missing COA
a) Nobody would take care of theirs since it can be replaced,
b) COAs could be used for a replica guitar and somebody could get royally shafted,
c) What's the point of a replaced COA if there is another one with the same number floating around,

Bottom line is if the COA has ANY value to you, don't lose it or don't buy a guitar that does not have it.

When I was looking for my R8 I was looking for one that did not have the COA so I could save some cash, I bought one with a COA and now I have one more thing to worry about.

I agree with this statement but sadly, when dealing with Guitar Center specifically.......there is actually is a third scenario.

You buy a guitar from them, they assure you they will get you one (even had it written on my reciept) and then they can't deliver one.

Not if it's the right guitar, my R9 is a forever keeper so I really don't care that they lost it. The neck is perfect, the tone is amazing & cuts right through all the bands I have played with so far with no problem.

Yikes, but sorry, by me that's not a third scenario. A guitar either has a COA or not how you go about figuring out either scenario is a different thing.

I wonder how much a COA goes for in the black market.

Apperently under fifty bucks, from shady sources no doubt.

It has been offered, however see below.

I have the same experience as you.......mine is an AMAZING guitar......I don't ever PLAN on selling it, but I have said that before.........:)

Debating the count of scenarios is futile.

Yeah, really.
