In my own completely uninformed opinion, the higher levels are probably due to the ever expanding definition of autism. I grew up in the 80's/90's, so not all that long ago. Back then you could be a little weird or anti social, and that was the end of it. Now, every parent needs a reason for their kid being a bit different. Boom, the kid is slapped on "the spectrum." There is no doubt in my mind that I would've been labeled with something had I grown up a decade later.
No kidding- now autism is a freaking SPECTRUM. It is a spectrum disorder— with the implication that ‘we can ALL be a bit autistic.’

I quit working in mental health after mental illness became so inclusive that we will all eventually become crazy. The collusion between big pharma and psychiatry is truly insane.

Like I’ve said before about women, blacks, whites and every other gigantic broadly painted grouping of basically anything, it’s not always monolithic and homogeneous. There are plenty different kinds of science. It’s not all being rejected by FB moms and religious types.
But several areas of science have been proven to be untrustworthy. And like an unfaithful spouse, you’re a little hesitant to ever trust the person again, if that trust may cause you harm.
If “return on investment” wasn’t a thing, I’d probably have more faith in Big Pharma.
I totally get why people reject that area of science.

Ignoring a doctor telling you to give your kid Tamiflu is insane IMO.

But there is a middle ground with vaccines. Not everyone with concerns is a brain dead Jenny McCarthy type. Or even anti-vax.

My fiancé, along with her son’s pediatrician, researched and decided on a staggered vaccination schedule so the little guy wasn’t getting them all in a short period of time. Seems to have served him very well.

Remember kids, gravity isn’t just a good idea, it’s the law.
We are not obligated to follow an unjust and unconstitutional law. In fact, our moral and civic duty is to disobey it, and do everything in our power to overturn it.
The people must be given the opportunity to vote on such an oppressive law that has one and only one intent... to keep us down and prevent us from elevating ourselves without the cooperation of some wealthy overlord who will grant access to some "flying machine"

This is so freaking cool. The guy discovered a way to solve quadratics that's accurate and fast.

With this child,i'll venture, without knowing the actual figures, the risk of death from flu far outweighed the risk of complications from the vaccine. But no one on her voodoo medicine site thought to give her a balanced opinion...and some people just get tunnel vision when their hopes overcome their common sense. Now an easily preventable death.

The child had no choice because the parent called the shots. Prayers for her other 3 children.
And this was not even an issue of vaccination.
While a flu shot may have prevented or lessened the severity of the child's condition, this was an issue of treatment.
The doctor prescribed Tamiflu, and the mother rejected it and followed the advice of her anti-vaxx friends.
There could be more to it... she could have had problems getting the prescription filled. My wife and I have had to get partial fills more than once because even an organization as large as Kaiser can't keep it in stock.
In that case, I can understand and am sympathetic to her seeking alternative treatment in the interim.
I have not read the posts on her FB group, and don't know whether she actually rejected the Tamiflu, or was looking for available alternatives.

Even more sad is the fact that there are people literally dying from not having Tamiflu that have no access to it.

Things like real science and math are bad, because they make people feel stupid and it's hard to argue with numbers.

One solution is to make everything a science even if it means we now need to deal with people using bad science to "prove" their feelings.

Math on the other hand is just done away with. For example my field relied heavily on math and now it relies heavily on social justice.

If we transfer it to a Discover card, there’s no interest for a year...
Probably easier to just print off a bazillion dollar bill (but whose face would be on it?) and mail it in.
