I changed out the stock speaker in mine, it’s actually quite usable now, even without an extension cab.My Fender Greta uses a 12at7 as a power tube to put out a whopping 2 watts. Not much of a tone through the built-in 4 inch speaker but when I plug it into the 12 inch cabinet, it sounds great and it’s loud enough to make my kids cover their ears.
I was this close to buying one of those TS combo units. My Epiphone Valve Jr. at 5w is as low as I can go. My Ibanez TSH15 is 15w but can be set at 5w ,but it sounds better at 15w
If you like a dirty sound a 5 watt amp can really get kind of loud in a rehearsal situation. I've used it at 5 live as well like for the first set at a wedding. My amp can go 5,15, 30 or 45 and I rarely set above 15 live or at practice.I can't imagine using a 5 watt for band practice...are you mic'd going through the board?
I know the feeling.I run my Greta into a 2x12 and it's really surprising how good and full it sounds.
for the posts joking about the Marshall Class 5? That amp is fucking LOUD!! No joke! I had one and couldn't believe how loud it was. I was like, "5 watts? har-dee-har-har,..let me just crank it u--" and now my ears are ringing.
