Many years ago, a friend had a walnut SG which had plastic pickups with the word Gibson on them (written in script), and a slide switch to select each one.
Which model was this?

Something like this?

72.3-SGII.JPG

There were other variants with features similar the Les Paul Recording, Professional, and Personal.
Low impedance pups, intricate tone circuits among the most notable. They are well suited to plug straight into the recording desk..

The 72 Standard has Gibson on the pups but they are metal covers. There is a big plastic plate on the front as the controls drop in but it has a toggle switch not a slide.

No - the pickups were rounded, and I think only 1 switch with an oblong metal plate for the knobs.

All/most pickups in 72 were embossed. Plastic P90 covers for the reissues from that year had a raised Gibson logo on them for example
