I've never tried the Fulltone, but I've loved my Tube Screamer for years.

I narrowed it down to these 2.. never heard the sparkle drive.. but I know a lot of people like them... I just think these 2 are the sound I want, unfortunately I can only get 1....

Both great pedals. I have a Keeley'd 808, that is just plain magic with my Trad Pro and my GA-5, but it's not ideal on every rig. The OCD is more transparent, and gainier, ergo more universal, but also a bit less distinctive. If you can't try before you buy, the OCD is probably the safer bet, but then I'd steer you at a Dirty Little Secret or Box of Rock or maybe a Crunchbox. The DLS in particular is a nifty and tweakable box.

OTOH, if you really liked the TS9, one of these will make you happy. I'd actually lean towards the OCD, as the 808 and the TS9 sound rather different to me. The 808 has this lilty, tweaky thing going on in the mids, particularly with single coils. The TS9 is throatier and more, well, homogenized, and would be better emulated by the OCD.

The MI Blue Boy Deluxe is a killer Tubescreamer type, and with all those knobs, can approximate a host of sounds from that genre. Cheaper than either of yours, as well.

I only mention the sparkle drive because it is an 808 clone more or less with a mix knob.

I personally (from what i have read) would go towards the ocd, the 808s ts9's etc all seem to have to much of a mid hump for my personal taste

I have the OCD and pulled it in favor of a Marshall BluesBreaker.

But my trouble stems from use of distortion following the OD in my chain.
OCD did not play well with the Satchurator.

Since you don't use distortion, you may like the OCD.

I say OCD. I love mine, and it never fails me. It's a great booster as well as a rich, harmonic overdrive.

I have played on a couple and yeah, sounded good. Like any other TS type pedal your amp just needs to be good and hot for it to sound its best.

Forget the TS-808. Spring for the Maxon OD-9. It's better quality and actually has true bypass.

Roughly the same cost, too.

These are two very different pedals IMO. The OCD is a great Marshall in a box sound. In fact its probably the best I've heard at getting that sound. The OCD has a mild amount of mid cut. The OCD also has way more gain on tap than the 808. The 808 has the famous mid hump, which I feel is less pronounced in the 808 vs the TS9. More of a rounded tone. Probably better for blues. I would def get an 808 over a TS9 because I think the current crop of TS9 reissues still come with the horrible TL77... blah blah chip which sounds horrible. Also, there's only about 52,459 different TS808 clone/derivative, so don't feel you have to stick with Ibanez. I just picked up the other Fulltone, the Fulldrive 2 MOSFET, and it does the whole 808 thing quite well. If I were you, I'd get both :D
