Which kind of wire for wiring?

Hello,

I've wanted to rewire one of my Epiphone Les Pauls (the stock work looks more than cheap).

I've already done a rewire job on my other LP and used simple braid wire from the next DIY store for everything in the guitar. But now I'm just wondering if that's okay because I've read that I have to use a shielded cable. Or are braids shielded cables?
