I'm Really impressed with the new Jr's

Well, mine arrived, and although I like the color, Ive yet to see how it sounds, but the fit and finish is definitely lacking!!! I guess you get what you pay for...$499 from MF...Id be really pissed if I payed $699 or $799..To think Gibsons suggested retail is $1199!!! What a joke.. The fretboard on one side is nice and smooth, evenly flush at the seam where it meets the neck, but on the other side its slightly off, as though they decided not to sand that side..Theres also a tiny spot where they didnt paint it evenly, or the paint chipped off..Also some white paint overspray on the sides of the fretboard...Although not the best photos (used my phone) here are some pics. And a closeup of the side of the fretboard...I'll probably end up keeping it, as I'm really not into sending things back and forth, but I did expect better from Gibson..Maybe Im just being too picky and its normal? Anyway, I am happy to have a Junior, and for $just $499 I guess I cant complain..

I don't know. It's terrible that you aren't wild about the guitar, truthfully. Considering that you already started a whole thread about being uncertain of your choice before you even received the guitar, and now you find some flaws on it, I'd really consider sending it back.

And honestly, for a guitar of this price, I would be dismissive of most cosmetic flaws. In fact, my Junior that's like yours arrived with a dent in the wood and finish, probably something that occurred in shipping at some point. I protested and got some money returned to me, but I really thought about sending the guitar back. But I decided that this one played and sounded great and was likely to get damage throughout its life anyway, this wasn't going to be a case queen.

But you have a more pressing issue with the neck, which could affect playability, or at least be a lasting annoyance. I'd probably send that sort of thing back.

Sorry, brother. We all know Gibson's quality control isn't what you would call high, but you still should have been happy on this day, no matter the price.

Thanks Larry.. I'm sure I'll be happy. Musicians friend has a Satin Cherry to send me as a replacement, and Gibson said they would either repair it or replace it as well, so it will work out either way.. I may just send it to Gibson..

Regards

Really? You spoke to Gibson and they are offering to take it back? I wonder what they'll do, and what the turnaround time is. Keep us posted!

By the way, is it an ebony fingerboard?

They asked me to send photos, and they would either fix it or replace it since its under warranty..As for the fingerboard, it looks too light to be ebony. Its either Rosewood, or Obeche, thats stained to look like rosewood. I sent the photos to Gibson, lets see what they say...I dont mind the paint issue, as I'm sure I'll create more dings and scratches from playing it. Its the uneven fretboard that will irk me forever

I should think so. What a hassle. Well, I'd send it to them, make them sort it out... they should be reminded that if they are going to just lob instruments out there, then they will have to stand by them, from time to time. Which is clearly what they've found to be the best choice, most people probably don't send them back.

I like the white better, but I've been known to be wrong before :)
Aw CRAP! It's got a P-90 so it's all good no matter what you pick.
