Which coil does Gibson leave active when splitting/taping?

For thoso how have a factory splittable Les Paul, or coil tap for the matter, I think that's the way Gibson does, which is the coil that is active on that situation? The inner or the outer one?
You can check it just by touching with a screwdriver the polepieces and see which makes noise when connected.
