Im thinking of putting a Bigsby with a vibramate on my OBG Les Paul. Does anyone know which model of the Bigsby will be a direct fit? Im pretty sure its the B7 but would like some confirmation, thanks :)!

If the distance between the studs and between them and the tail end of the guitar is identical to a Gibson, that's the "classic" choice, yes.

If the distance to the tail is not, a B5 might work. Different look, but if it's good enough for G. E. Smith, it's good enough for me.

IF:

There is NO flexibility in the measurement between studs, and very little between studs and tail.

I found that the standard vibrate didn't quite fit my historic ... top was okay but couldn't get the Bigsby hinge down correctly with the extra little plate on - so now I have 4 little screws directly in the end of my guitar ...

I don't care - the guitar's a lifer and the Bigsby ain't ever coming off it, main thing for me was to get a tidy, no-holes finish on the top and maintain decent earth contact.

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies. Im aware that there's no room for error in terms of spacing so I'd like to be 100% sure before I buy the bigsby. Do you guys know what type of spacing OBG uses for the tailpiece?

If you want a tremolo ,buy a strat!

I would not even complemtate fitting a Bigsby to an OBG ,just why ! Its a vintage guitar ,keep it 100% original..Its not worth it?

But if you must ,then good luck and post the pictures and details for us to learn from :)

Vibramate would keep it without holes I believe, meaning it would still be completely original.

Buying a strat is never a good excuse over a bigsby. One is 600+, the other is 200ish with bigsby and vibramate. Take your pick.

Actually I already have a strat and I love it but it cant do what LPs can with a bigsby. If someone's done this to their OBG already please post some info :).

Fair enough RIRAKUMA,
Just my two cents :hmm:I think the only person i know that fitted a bigsby to a MIJ is 3pup(doug) That was on a burny 3 pup custom ,you might try and PM him for the installation details and any problems he encounted.

If the OBG is a keeper then, why not!I like my my made in japan guitars to be as original as possible,Thats just me ,everybody is different,If the bigsby and vibramate do not damage the guitar and you are happy then ,all is well?

@THE RUFUGEE.
If you owned a decent guitar or even came within an inch of a OBG, you would wet your pants,then you would realise why i am cautious.
