As a person who recently picked up his first Les Paul (have an Ibanez RGA121 and a Strat) the only complaint I have is how hard it is to access the upper frets for me.

- Henry
- Achilles heel of a headstock prone to breaks
- Poor upper fret access
- Cheesy nut
- Cheesier strap buttons (anything $1,000 & up should have locks IMO)
- Bad binding nib jobs
- Henry
- Fretboard gouges
- Orange peel
- Poor color selection
- Lack of 60s neck
- Hard to find much variety in local stores
- Printed circuit board in new Standard
- Henry

Other than that, they're great !! :thumb:

I hate that I like the look of a PG on, but playability wise I like having it off for more room to pinky-grab the bridge pickup ring. I kind of like feeling the body with my pinky and ring fingers when I play.

I also hate the teardrop bursts. I find it kind of takes away from the way the eye sees the overall shape in alot of cases.

Speaking of cases, I hate the flip-flap (is it silk?) top protector that some cases have. Common, how does that really improve over nice fluffy fur?

1. MSRP
2. Confining control cavity (makes it difficult to do necessary soldering)
3. Amber knobs only come in tophat form, not speed knob form
4. The dubious practice of artificially aging/distressing a modern Les Paul

Upper fret access! But I'd probably miss the thickness if it were thinner.

What a bunch of bitches!!

Just kidding. I'd say the only thing I'd have to add is when sitting down and playing, I always feel like I'm wrestling it to keep it from sliding off my lap. My Fenders just sit there and let me concentrate on playing. Not a big issue for me really but I could see where the toggle position would be a hassle for players that switch a lot, I can switch with my pinky on my Strat while playing. As far as price?? If they were cheap, everyone would have one. :laugh2:

My only complaint is that the neck joint is too bulky. Others above have posted complaints on the dificulty of upper fret access. Contouring the neck joint remedies that. A good example is Neil Schon's signature LP. He shows the neck joint contour in the following YouTube video:

The cork sniffer attitude of some owners, it's a guitar not some fine wine- so get over the need to validate laying out a ton of cash on it.

i took my poker chip off a few days ago, it kinda reminds me of a prs in some way

I never heard the term poker chip in regards to a les paul.are you referring to the washer around the pickup selector switch?

Oh, I was going to add...a serious lack of choices for left handed models. (and no, I'm not in the market for a 4 thousand dollar custom, a 5 thousand dollar goldtop or a 6 thousand dollar R series guitar, thank you very much.)

Yeah...I think that's a Boleskinhouse term for the washer....:slash:

(and I like my Studio better w/o it....that guitar is odd. The less amenities and bling it has on it, the better it looks...but I won't lose the 5-ply I put on there because the guitar would probably look very boring w/o it.)

I hate this but everythime i pick up my lp or play one or think of buying one i always think of my guitar teacher. He is against Gibson and Fender. He says that they are evil corporation that has their guitars way over priced. when i bought my epiphone LP he said what'd ya get it for $350. When i awnsered 580 w/tax he started apologizing. He is all about the small brands such as samick, vineyard, and JBP. It annoys me to death but i can't leave gibson. I love all their gutiars. EXplaorer, SG, Fyling V, and ON top the famous LP. -sigh its annoying

No offense, but I could not find a decent Samick or vineyard. Sure, they're cheap..but in no way do they sound as good as a Gibson or a few select Epiphones. Gibson and Fender an evil corporation? Maybe, but their guitars sound so damn good. Join the darkside!
