Do you use mainly just the bridge pickup or a combination of both (middle position), etc...?

Of late I've been playing a lot in the middle position with the bridge volume at 10 and the neck volume at around 5. Still use just the bridge a lot also.

I primarily play with the bridge pick up and occasionally switch to both pick ups when the tone needs to be a bit hotter. I keep the bridge pick up volume around 2 or lower (if the wife's not in the house I'll turn it up a bit more) and the neck around 5 or 6, and the amp gain around 3 or 4 (again depending if the wife is in the house).

I never really use the neck pick up by itself.

I set mine to be just above my crotch.
Then I move it about for no reason, from one song to the next.
Sometimes I even move it during a song.
I'm so rock 'n' roll.

Bridge for rhythm. Neck for leads. I only use the middle when I have both volumes wide open with the neck tone wide open and the bridge tone completely off. Gives me a really awesome cocked wah kinda sound with a bit of gain.

For solos bridge so the hair on my neck goes up! The middle and bridge for the chorus so I can feel the bass in my crotch. Volume just below the call the cops level.

Neck 90% of the time and the middle the other 10%. Only on a very VERY rare occasion will I use the bridge pup. Its way too trebley for my taste

On my es 175 its the neck, but Im a rhythm player in the band so its butter. On my Les Paul it would be the middle wide open. Our lead is in a strat phase and has totally stopped using his lester. Which I do like the sound of the Fender SRV don't get me wrong. But ever since my tele just don't sound right in the mix.

Either Rhythm, middle, or treble.
Sometimes I even move it while I'm playing :wow:

For me it depends on the song, room, amount of drive & guitar I'm using. I switch it up all the time.

Bridge - 80% of the time. Distorted rhythm and 70% of leads

Neck - for clean rhythms, for mellower, quieter passages, and for clean and distorted leads

Middle - ??? :dunno: For some Motown stuff and with both volumes rolled down for electrified acoustic type tones.

I either want it to bite and cut through or to be fat and woolly.

I eq for my bridge and adjust the neck to suit. I have no problem with the neck being as loud as or a bit louder than the bridge. But my bridge tone has to kick ass.

I think eq-ing for the neck for rock music is a mistake.

I think most, myself included, use all positions (rhythm, middle, treble) depending on the song or what they are playing.

Most do have there preference or favorite go to position they use more than any other though. That is what the thread is about. I guess that goes right over some peoples heads though. :D

yea but I got a couple LP's also.

For my strat I use the middle 95% of the time and the neck 5% of the time. Personally I think the bridge on a strat sounds horrible.

Middle pos. as the 'main' all-around sound and rhythm, then all three at various times for leads. Also like the middle with bridge a few notches above the neck for a 'fat bridge' lead tone. Same with a Tele, except for separate volumes obviously.
