I'm going back to a cable, I keep noticing a delay and weak signal when I turn down my guitar volume control with every wireless I use.

What do you guys prefer.

Thanks

Joe

Wireless everytime.
Why, because it adds some sparkle and allows me to wander off to the bar whilst playing.

I'm using a Sennheiser wireless and it's the best investement I ever made. I can walking about freely on stage without tripping and when my mouth touches a mic, I'm not getting zapped anymore.

There's a lot of crappy stuff out there. If you buy cheap stuff, expect to get crap. It could be my mind, but I think notice a very, very and I meand VERY tiny loss in tone, about 5% of what I think I loose with a boss pedal. Any loss of signal can be compensated on the sennheiser by adding volume, even turning it into a boost ! It also can be compensated by turning the gain up a bit.
About the delay, I don't hear it at all if it's there or not. I once though I heard it when I was about 60 feet away from my gear during a sound check, but it could also have been the reflection of the empty venue.

But even then, nobody ever came up to me after (or during) a gig saying something like:

- I hear your guitar has a short neck tenon, how dare you come on stage !
- You should put some re-issue bumble bees in there, you sound terrible !
- I almost walked out halfway the first song because your fuzz isn't true bypass, how can you live with yourself !

I'd like to try a good wireless but the price difference has always held me back. $200.00 to sound as good as a $20.00 cable. If I moved around more I'd do it though.

I am definitly with ya, Ok Old school here, and I'd worry bout something or somebody crossing my signal somehow at the worst possible time

Cables have negligable signal loss, compared to wireless, but I'll take that slight loss any day, if it means I can get rid of the anchor that a cable is.

Getting a sonic maximizer helps the problem, though...

I have never liked the sound of wireless units.
Cable for me only.
My favorite is the Mogami 25/24 with gold Neutrik plugs.
The Mogami has a rather flat responce which I prefer.
Plus they are inexpensive.
Highly recommended.

I've been using an AKG SB40 GB40 for some years. Totally reliable, no discernable signal loss and I'm no longer chained to my amp.

A good wireless is the way to go, but you gotta spend at least $500 on a high end Shure or Sennheiser. The new stuff even at lower prices are pretty good, but if you really care about your sound, and movability, high end wireless is the way to go.

I just sold a shure system, and bought some really high end Planet Waves cables, and they really sound great... but having used a wireless for years, I'm not used to the cable around the feet/legs thing anymore.

I dunno, I have always used cable , normally I am either straight into the amp or with maybe one TS9 and or my graphic eq on the floor, Luggin around the receiver ect , thats more inconvient than all the cable thats gonna be across the floor/ stage , Like the Tee Shirt says Les is More :slash: Planet Waves are good quality cable. Maybe I am one of those dinasours that just dosnt want to change but cables are simpler and easier for me

A lot of guys swear by cables... now that I've spent a considerable amount *the Planet Waves are almost as expensive as Monster, but have a lifetime guarantee* I've noticed an improvement in sound quality.

I've got all Monster or Planet Waves cables in my rig now and probably wont go back to wireless until the technology comes up in quality and down in price. ;)

But it was nice to be able to jump around without stepping on a cable... or to run to the bar, solo on a pool table, or even start a set from in the john... that used to crack people up.. haha

we'd all start playing a song, with just the drummer on stage, and walk out of the bathroom single file.... haha

I finally went Wireless after some 30 years ... I too hated a cable but I trusted it .. I changed over everything in my rig to Monster Cables . I used a 20 foot Monster Cable on my Les Paul until a month ago . I use a Samson Stage 55 .. but I can assure you that a Monster cable will be near by when I play live .

I'm usually a cable guy; Klotz for the long runs, George Ls for the pedal board.

I got to do a one-off gig with Nelson, and they both use the new X2 wireless...about $250 at GC. They swore by them, after trying many different types.

I got one, and sure enough, it sounds as good as a cable to my ears. In addition, the receiver is the size of an MXR pedal, and takes a 9V power lead right off my board.

I was sold on the X2. For smaller gigs I still use cables, but it's nice to have a wireless just in case.

I'm using a Shure Wireless for gigs, I don't really notice any signal loss. I got sick of cables underfoot.

Now that I have the wireless monitors, I want another good wireless sytem. Shure seems to be the way to go, as long as it doesn't interfere with my IEM's.

I dunno. I am currently selling 2 laptops and debating about selling my Mark IV. If the laptops go, I'll get a new wireless tomorrow... although there is a sweet Allen and Heath board at L&M right now... Would be nice too... But I hate buying stuff for the entire band. Its either I keep it, or we all pay a piece, and then what happens if we break up? Such a pain. Worse than my divorce. :D

Try the X2, you'll be sold.

Thats what I was looking at actually. They have the rack and the floor model. Dunno which I'll buy... Probably the rack and then just run the cord from the board to my amp.

They have an interesting article about wireless frequencies on their website, and how the govt auctioned off a bunch of channels and that wireless devices like guitars/mics ect. are losing bandwidth so companies like Google can force their own wireless crap on us.
