I always preferred Donald over Mickey. His temper is hilarious.

Batman: The Animated Series.

The BEST version of Batman that isn't the comics. Yes, over and above the 60's show. Also, the original Harley Quinn, long before the character jumped a million sharks and became unbearable. The above scene is just wonderful.

When I was a kid it was "The Superfriends" and "Valley of the dinosaurs ".

Lately, it's been "Star wars Rebels" and rewatching "Star wars The Clone Wars".
And can't wait to see the new one with Ahsoka and Sabine searching for Ezra.

I've just always prefer the action cartoons over the humor cartoons. BATMAN the animated series, X-MEN, Batman Beyond, etc...

There is absolutely no doubt, hands down, the best cartoons ever made were Looney Tunes.

One of my favs is when Wile E Coyote drops the anvil from his balloon, then his balloon pops and he starts falling, and then he falls faster than the anvil and passes it up (and then of course it lands on him)!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Depends on your definition of "cartoon"
A few fav's are:
Calvin & Hobbs
Peanuts
BC
Doonesbury
Far Side

Sometimes they can all be a little politcal, but they usually take a humorous look at real life situations.

Rocky and Bullwinkle (social commentary), yes yes...
uh, Pepe Le Pew (love), Foghorn Leghorn (personal relationships),
South Park (social satire; they absolutely hate celebrities).

Someone mentioned my Disney fav, and Disney animation
is not in my top ten, but, Chip and Dale are lovely mischief
makers.

Animaniacs; a brilliant remake and homage to Loony Tunes.

New Yorker mag cartoons are wonderful. Political cartoons of any
one are creative and usually pointed as hell.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy are a guilty favorite.

Dexter (boy genius) esp. his attempt to get a dog to speak English...
and he does...result is real...and funny.

...and for some reason The Power Puff Girls, esp the Beatles episode
where they use Beatle lyrics as dialog in "Meet The Beat Alls". All 4
super villains get together and decide to take on the Girls and are
besting them until a 5th outsider is introduced to the group...

I think thats it...great thread!

Any of the hand drawn cartoons before 1964. I don't like modern versions of classic cartoons. And no fake cute Pop Eye either. Popeye is my favorite.
I want the real war era, black and white versions with the goons, an Whimpy, sweet pea and all that. Oh, and Pipeye, Peepeye, Poopeye and Pupeye!

It was never clear where Sweet Pea came from but seemed to be in the Care of Olive Oyle' but later was implied Sweet Peas was Popeye' s nephew.
And I always wondered why Bluto and Popeye would fight over her she's skinny, sounds funny and is flat as a pancake. By then I realized the reason was she's the "only" woman in town ..
She Loves her Sailor!
Here is their story -
