Probably about £1100-£1450 GBP at best. Post a pic and I'll get a better idea.

Thanks John for pointing that out. Dogbone94; If you need a dollar equivilent go to:

XE.com - Universal Currency Converter

Looking at the pics - I'd say the guitar is worth £1250 GBP tops.
($2400 USD)

It looks like the neck has been shaved and stripped too. Due to it's un-originality and that it's been buggered about with, the price will be low.

The ex-name ownership bears no credibility or extra value to the guitar.
Maybe it would if it was an ex-Eric Clapton, or suchlike.

It's a pretty colour!

I'm not sure that you can use the exchange rate though. Guitar prices tend to be almost 1 for 1, i.e. if something is $1000 in the US, then it is close to £1000 in the UK.

it's probably a fantastic guitar, but it's going to sell at a 'player' price.

strange that someone at Gibson would say that.

normal LPs stopped in '60, then there were the SG shaped LPs, the regular body style didn't come back until '68.

Yours is in the 70 - 75 range somewhere.

Unless it has original pots, it's going to be hard to tie down the year though.

Serial numbers were often used again in different decades.

The number above could have been made in 63-65 or 70-75. The fact that original shape LPs finished around 61 suggests this is definitely a 70's model. I would ask Gibson why they think they were making original shape LPs in 63
