I am considering selling my 2014 R8. It's a killer guitar. It has the look, tone, everything but the neck is starting to become a problem for me. It's not huge by any means (WAY smaller than my old 2011 R8) but I'm finding the R9 neck shape to be more comfortable lately. I'm considering selling my R8 to fund a R9. Here's the details:

- 2014 Lemonburst R8 with case and all case candy including CoA
- Figured top, very vintage looking with mineral streaks, etc.
- A hair over 9 lbs. with a chunky but not huge neck
- General played condition showing scratches and a couple minor dings on back and sides (it gets gigged regularly)
- Frets are in great shape and the guitar is all stock. The fretboard is a nice dark brown rosewood.

I know the market is soft right now but I figured trading up might be a good option at this point. I love everything about the R8 other than the large neck. I really wish this guitar had a R9 neck shape since I don't usually go for crazy R9 flame tops and love the way this one looks. I'd be pretty much looking for the exact same guitar in a R9.

Here's a crappy pic with flash that doesn't show the true beauty of this guitar, but will give a general idea of how it looks:

There is the sell it price, and there is the list it and wait forever price.

If you want a reasonably quick sale right now, probably $2800.

If you want to sit on it for awhile, and eventually sell it for $2800-$2900, ask 3k.

I would say right around $3K if you're not in a rush. You might get a bite at that without having to wait too long.

Thanks guys. That's right about what I was thinking. I hate the thought of selling it but I really feel that a R9 would suit my playing better. I have small hands.

Why sell it? If you like everything else about it, get the neck re-profiled and refinished to your liking!

$3450.....

that way you can tell the wife ...."See its for sale....but no one is biting... bummer....I guess I'll hafta keep it dear"....

If you are posting it here then the posted prices are good...be careful with that Flebay, because you will loose big$ in fees...do the math Before you sell/list there...

flebay is a good way to get the interest going, and going off thier implied safty netting is really the way to cash in.....

oops ....did I just give away the golden goose secrete? :naughty:

Nah, that's not my style. I wouldn't pay a lot of money to do something that would devalue a guitar; you never know if you may need to sell that guitar down the road. I'd be able to get a R9 with the money that would cost plus the sale of this one, and keep that guitar's value intact. That's where my thinking is on this right now.

If my wife wouldn't kill me, I'd probably just throw you an offer right now. Great looking guitar.

Haha, I know that trick already. The wife doesn't want me to sell this one...she likes this guitar almost as much as I do. I just feel that the R9 neck shape would suit my hands better.

Thanks! Looks are one thing (and I agree with you) but this guitar has the tone to match. They don't all have that. I bought and sold a bunch before settling on this one, three of which were 2013/2014's. The Custombuckers sound superb in this guitar.

This is the perfect barometer. Excellent condition, hand picked top for $2,995. Perfect pricing. Your's being plain top would go for a few hundy less.

'58 Reissue Les Paul '14 - Dave's Guitar Shop

I know mine looks a bit plain in the pics but it's not in person. It's pretty flamey at certain angles but looks very vintage overall. Is that one at Dave's new? That's a ridiculous price if so...

Yeah it's used but it looks basically new and is pretty light with a nice top.

It's a good deal for sure. Maybe that color isn't too popular...

That color is amazing. It's called Cody Burst. It's the same color as believer burst. Almost the perfect cherry. Not to yellow or orange.

Yeah I like it too, but at that price it should have sold. Makes me wonder why it hasn't.
