This guy used a wenge top to great effect. Dunno how it sounds but it looks stunning.

I did some more guitar'ing today! My latest hack design, it has no name, but I like the hell out of it.

Made some Floyd Rose templates! Aaaaaaw yeah!

I also cut some fret slots on two curly maple fingerboards that I built! (they are going onto curly maple necks too!) I used the Stewmac fret sawblade on a radial arm saw. Worked like a champ! I hope they sound good when installed, I used a 24.562" scale from the stewmac fret calculator. I wanted to try out the slightly shorter scale, hope it wasn't a bad idea! lol

I'm glad I got that saw blade, now I can make whatever scale I want to! and use whatever wood I want to! Gonna use some Bloodwood soon. It just sounds neat to say that.

My first thought when anyone tells me they build guitars by hand is that they have as many or more demons than I. I don't question that about you any more.

That'll be pretty cool B! Have you seen over on the Telecaster forum Gil's thread on a replica of a original Black broadcaster (I think thats what it was) Anyway as near as he could tell, on the first few Broadcasters (single pickup tele) they used black Dope, like the stuff they make model plane wings and fuselages. Its really smelly, hard and shiny. It was pretty cool, it had Gil's typical attention to details, like original sloted screws, magnets on the pickup he wound etc. Anyway if that doesn't work for you, you might want to look into the plane Dope (a legal dope, who would have thought, funny story when I go to my pain clinic doctor they test me to see if I'm dirty and not selling my drugs haha, only test I've ever seen where you WANT to be dirty). Anyway, I'll try and find a link to it, its a cool technique and has this almost shiny look, not as shiny as the stuff your using though. Good luck with it!

Regards,

Don

You do awesome work, that black les paul with the staple P90 pickups is just soo darn cool, it has to sound amazing from the looks of it, did the all mahogany black beauty have one of these and a regular p90, at any rate, that is beautiful Man!

Don

:wow:Gorgeous! How do those pickups sound?

They sound very Sweet. Here's a clip. Unfortunately the first couple of minutes with clean sound is distorted because of the camera. But the rest is quite representative.

Thanks for the kind words Don.
Yes I like the sound a lot and I will probably make one for myself with 2 Thorn Cream P90 Staples. I guess it would be suitable to put them in a Goldtop build, Hmm why not build an early 50s with Trapeze, haven't seen any builds with that :hmm:

Lars, This guitar is so incredibly sexy. I love the look of the three P-90's. This guitar reeks of great taste.
:applause:

Thanks SG John. :) It turned out very nice. I'd never thought of that "design" myself but I like it a lot.
