what year was my les paul made

I have a les paul gold top i bought in 1969 used thought it was 1967 model but was told they werent made that year the serial number on head is 171697 Thanks

it also has baby humbuckers wuich i dont think came on later models

I am guessing it is a single cut...it definitely NOT a 64, if so.

Minis were introduced new in 69. So I think there perhaps a slight mis remembrance of some of the details of when it was bought used.....unless the previous owner had it only a couple of days before moving it on.

And minis most certainly were on later models.......until 1984 on the original Deluxe. So 69 was the complete other end of the time period.

That logo looks 1973 or later.
Can you open up the electrics cavity and get pics of the whole electrics cavity, plus any pot ....Especially the stamped number that starts with 137.....

That logo looks 1973 or later.
Can you open up the electrics cavity and get pics of the whole electrics cavity, plus any pot ....Especially the stamped number that starts with 137.....
heres pics of cavity two pots have been changed the one thants not been changed is pictured close up only numbers i see is 70 0 8 note i purchased from at a pawn shop in 1969 could of been 1970 cant find reciept of yet the gutiar case had the name of the band the guy played in so had to have for some time i would think if that helps

number on pot at closer look to be 70-028

Check the side of the pots. Some of the older ones had the stamping on the side as well. You're looking for a pot code in the format of 137YYWW.

137YYWW
137 = CTS
YY = Year
WW = Week

Your headstock pic is not even close to a 1968 or 1969..... this is a 1968 (note the different Gibson MOP Script)
