What would you call this top?

I think it is a stained veneer of unknown origin. Looks nice.

I mean, would you call it flamed? Is there such a thing as flamed Mahogany?

Looks like bookmatched mahogany. I'm not sure I'd go as far as "flamed" mahogany. It's pretty subtle. I didn't even notice it the first time I looked at the photo. If it qualifies, then so-be-it.

It is veneer. Looks nice. They obviously wanted to accent the flame it has since they went to the trouble of matching it.

The thing is, I've seen it fairly often on that model, always bookmatched in either direction, so it's not a coincidence. Here's a better angle:

I would go with curly rather than flamed because of the large size and low definition of the figure. but its not really important

Its definitely figured mahogany :)
