Hello all, today I obtained a vintage gibson humbucker pickup, I know little to nothing about vintage Gibson pickups aside from t-tops, which lead me to buy this pickup as I wanted a t-top, I am almost sure it is a t-top, however I would like to have a second opinion from you all, I'm excited to join the community and thank you so much to all who read this :slash:

I'm no expert, but it seems to have a Brass baseplate which IIRC Gibson didn't do.

The bobbins are T-Tops. The baseplate's been tampered with.

Take a DC reading to be sure, it should not be further than 10% of the 7.5K mark.

Well?

Ok. If it's a normal baseplate then the only thing I see "wrong" is the clipped corners.
As Lt Kojak says, measure the output and then you get a better picture.

I did some homework and found a picture of a vintage PAF mini humbucker with clipped corners, does this put a possibility that that was factory done? The feet on the two are similar :)

It looks more like an OEM job. What what do I know? I'm in Italy; I haven't had that many REAL original Vintage p'ups in my hands, but I've certainly seen a lot of fakes.

HTH,

I know I'm going to sound really stupid, but what do you mean by it being by an OEM job?

Mean being a special batch made to spec by a guitar manufacturer.

Fx, Music Man guitars use Di Marzio p'ups made to spec specially for them.

What room temperature was when the reading was taken? That's important, as temperature affects the reading.

Nominal DC readings contained in every maker's literature, unless so stated, are meant to be taken at 20°C/68°F. The higher the temperature, the higher the DC reading.

But eyeballing looks good, all the signs of an original T-Top are there.
