From what i could find when i was researching Yamaha's....
By 1982 and the 3rd SL Series the number of models were reduced to 2 only – the SL450S and SL550S
with no higher range models offered. These new models were agathis bodied, set necks and with
covered humbuckers and coil splits. However, their most noticeable feature was the Gibson style
‘Open Book’ headstock with italic “Studio Lord” logo and “Standard SL450S/550S” trussrod script on.
SL production ended in 1983.
Here we have a nice Yamaha SL550S Les Paul style guitar, guitar plays well but has some issues, neck pickup is very quiet and cuts in and out when toggling the push-pot coil tap, bridge pickup works fine and sounds great. The nut has a chip on the bass side (doesn't seem to effect play ability a...
