To avoid biases I have marked them A, B and C. PLEASE VOTE and explain your opinion below. Thanks guys!
I'll reveal the results in a few days.
BTW, none of these recordings belong to me. They are produced by Celestion and I have edited the video only for discussion purposes.

I like the fatter, darker tone of B.

But nowadays I just play at home. If I was playing with other people I'd probably vote C.

A sounds the most like what I would hope and expect a vintage greenback to sound like. I would put A in my speaker cabinet and never look back.

I like C second best and B is my least favorite. In this eq context anyway.

I think
A is a Greenback
B is a 70/80
C is a V30

ANSWERS:
A: Celestion G12M-67 Heritage (Greenback)
B: Celestion A-type
C: Celestion G12H30 Heritage (Greenback) - 55 Hz
Very interesting. My favorite Fractal IR/cab block is a 20 watt Greenback, which is what the G12M-67 is.

The twenty watt Greenback is my all time favourite speaker, especially in a 4x12" format. If in a 2x12", I like the G12M-67 and G12H30 55 combo.

I have Pulsonic coned G12M greybacks. Reissue G12M greenbacks seem to be able to get a lot closer to the real thing than the reissue G12H. Not that the G12H sounds bad (I did like it second best in this demo), but they don't sound like the real thing.

I have heard some reissue G12Ms (a set of old Webers in particular! o_O ) that sounded out of this world, like even the real vintage thing has trouble sounding as "real." < How is that even possible?

The funny thing is, the 20 watt greenback IR I have sounds better than many actual reissue speakers. Fractal nailed that one, whether they got lucky or they are really that good. :hmm:

There are some magickal speakers out there that are worth the trouble and price. But they aren't all great.

I liked A best.

It's funny though...I have a hard time deciding on what speaker I like when it's an isolated guitar track. I've been doing a lot of this kind of speaker juggling on my own as well lately. I'll settle on what I think I like, but then if I put that speaker in a band or full mix situation all bets are off! Context trumps everything.

It is hard to judge tone from iPad speakers. But from what I heard I liked B the best. I like rich, full, and deep tones, and it seemed that B was the most voiced in that direction.

Seriously, “B” seemed to have the fuller tone. But since I listened through my iPad, what I meant was I don’t really know.

Try ear buds?

B and C do sound more full and rich and more modern. That is a good sound if that is what you like.

A sounds focused and mid-rangy and a lot like a vintage greenback.
