i use the fairly new gel picks. The red are the heavy ones. The thing i like is these make no noise when i play my acoustic or mandolin. I need a light touch on my electric guitars and no clicking. Yep gel and bill cosby has nothing to do with these. He does jello not gel picks.

Very cool on a real Herco :thumb:

The "Heavy Guage" and/or "Flex 75" ones?

The "Heavy Gauge" ones. The more white ones. Although not by choice. All I could find.
Others get pretty close, that's comforting.

Hi, I made my order (ORD**************) on May 23d. I checked my account on your site a couple of weeks ago and the status was "pending shipment". Today, I checked again and it says "in progress". Are my picks shipped or not? If not, why aren't they? I have waited for more that 12 weeks already. Kind regards

8/15/2014
No, they aren't. The reason is because we haven't got them all finished yet. They are in the workstation now. I apologize for taking so long. When we opened up our shopping site for orders in May, we receive way more orders that we expected.

8/15/2014
I see.

When are they gonna be shipped?
Given that you have offered the Govan signature pick and this weekend you are opening the shop again, you seem to have caught up with your waiting list.
I expect my order (May 23d) to be shipped by Monday or Tuesday tops.
If this is not the case I will have to ask for a full refund. I have waited way more time than I agreed to.
As for my picks, if they are cut already or whatever, you can always put them up for sale on your store and they will be gone in minutes.
I hate to do this (ask for a refund). I am a returning costumer because I like your product. But I am really pushed to look for another pick manufacturer. One who can offer his/her product more readily and when he/she says that he can.

We don't do refunds. I'll ship your picks today. How's that?

OK that's fine.

Anything else I can do for you?

8/15/2014
No thanks.
T replied and informed me that my picks are shipping today.
This is sufficient. I'll be waiting for the shipment notification e-mail.
I am not ordering from you again though.
You see, in my line of work, if deadlines are not met, I get sucked.
Especially if the delay happens and I don't notify my employer of the reasons why.

8/15/2014
Very good! I'll go ahead and delete your account then.

8/15/2014
Do that only AFTER you fulfill my order or refund me!

I already told you it was shipping today. Your account is deleted.

And I can't login to change that.
I don't want to receive your newsletter anymore.
See to it.

All that.
Plus, I discovered Hawk Picks from the UK.
Same sound - way less expensive - way better customer service.
And they are open all the time.

I use Ultex Sharp 2mm for electric, mostly. I like the sound they give and the sharp tip works well for me. For acoustic, I jump around a little. I have some of the 2mm Ultex Sharps that I rounded off a bit so they aren't so bright. Then 1.5mm Dunlop Primetones, which are alright. I often use the 1.14mm Ultex or the 1.14mm Tortex for a warmer sound.

Lately I've been using the 1mm Primetone Standard Sculpted picks for both acoustic and electric. I was using Ultex, but they sounded a little bit sharp and hollow to me.

First off for some background, while I do play a lot of types of music, I ultimately play rock oriented music. I swore by the Dunlop Gator Grips for my first 5 years or so of playing, about 1.0 mm. Then I made the switch to the Dunlop Tortex - and I've been using them for the last 15 years. I always try other picks, but nothing else comes close to comfort and grip. The Tortex is slightly larger than the Gator Grip, so you can really get behind it.

I shift between the 0.88 mm, 1.0mm, and 1.14mm depending on how I'm feeling, but they seem to work the best. For pieces that require more precision, I'll use the heavier of those gauges for less flex in the pick during my attack. Seems to do the trick for me.

Yikes. I can see why you moved on. I had to wait a couple of weeks for mine but there was no issue. I've never heard of Hawk picks but will check them out.

Dava Gel Jazz for Electric guitar and Dava Control Gels for Acoustic.

I can hold on to them (nerve damage) and they make the strings sound great and don't make too much click noise themselves.

For me, the perfect recipe. Before I found these, I either dropped them or they were way too noisy and didn't bring out a nice string ring either.

Musician's friend has the best delivered price if anyone is considering them.

Dava picks are really good. I was hooked on them for a while.

You will not be disappointed, I can promise you that.
Top notch products and great customer service.
I've tried their bone colored material which is kinda brighter but the tortoishell colored material does it for me.
I own a real turtle shell pick I found used and this stuff sounds really really close ;)

I worked with Rob of Hawk picks on a custom shaped Blackmore style pick and he was just the kindest. Their prices compared to Red Bear are absolute bargains as well.

The more finger grip the better!

I keep coming back to the Red .73 Snarling Dog Brain picks. They're actually quite Red, notwithstanding the photo below appearing more orange

I've used their thinner and thicker variations, as well as DunLop MaxGrips in similar variations. And, I have a few Herco's from years ago.

Although I still have dozens lying around, I don't use smooth grip picks much any more....
