These 3 sit on top of my amp head. Ultex gives a brighter tone, tortex warmer. I've been playing the green a lot lately.

Hawk picks from the UK when I want that turtle shell sound.
I had a custom home base (Blackmore style) pick made and it's freakin' amazing for my strat and acoustic.
Others too: Brain 1.00mm, Pre-Dunlop silver Hercos, .88mm Tortex, john pearse fast turtles 1.2mm (warmer turtle style pick)

Red Bear - NEVER AGAIN!

Because the Experience Museum ran out of their celluloid Ernie Ball stash, and I cant find anymore. I'll eventually custom order a full batch.

Actually, I'm using the Herco Vintage '66 picks. Didn't know they were different from the Herco Flex.

30 years with Fender celluloids. Love them, but I have a light touch and they tend to twist on me. So I tried Cat Tongues. They are great and used them for awhile. But I'm a bit of a pick hoarder lately, so I tried a few. Loved the yellow Tortex. The feel of them are amazing in my picking hand. Perfect. But, I found that they have no sound or touch/feel on the strings themselves, and I had trouble finding the strings and missing a few. So now I'm on the gold and silver Herco picks. They seem perfect for me, but to be honest, there isn't much difference between the gold lights and silver heavies. So I just pick (heh) which color I like at the moment.

When you say twist on you, do you mean they spin so you aren't playing with the end of the pick? I picked up a bunch of Dunlop Gels, and this is what is happening with me. No matter how I hold them, they end up turning in my fingers and I'm trying to play with the side of them, lol. Not working so well. Want to try something else, so hoping to get some advice on what to go to.

Yup, that's what I mean. They spin and I end up picking with another part of it and have to adjust. Though I'm getting good at adjusting it on the fly.

Anything you've tried with a little more grip? I'm almost ready to spray them with contact glue before playing to keep them straight, haha.

Cat Tongues are good. Very good. Probably the best for grip from what I've tried. Hercos have been okay. Better than most. I like the grip of Tortex as well.

ETA: Not the Cool Picks "Cat Tongues", but the CT ones. Canadian, apparently.

I used the regular tip green tortex for years until I grabbed a pack of green sharps by mistake. I liked how the sharp tip improved my picking. I then tried some more materials and the Ultex with the sharp point became my current pick. The Ultex has a very bright sound that works well with my midrange happy amplifiers and the tip makes really intricate picking much easier. I am very happy with these.

I use the fairly new gel picks. The red are the heavy ones. The thing I like is these make no noise when I play my acoustic or mandolin. I need a light touch on my electric guitars and no clicking. Yep gel and Bill Cosby has nothing to do with these. He does Jello not gel picks.

I tried the Jazz picks but they are so small. I put one in my mouth like we all do and I swallow them. A tad of plastic buzz but all in all not bad. Coming out is like giving birth to a lump of burning coal. There in lies the problem. Good question, I really had to think. No I ain't one of them that takes photos of picks.

Dava Gel Jazz for Electric guitar and Dava Control Gels for Acoustic.

I can hold on to them (nerve damage) and they make the strings sound great and don't make too much click noise themselves.

For me, the perfect recipe. Before I found these, I either dropped them or they were way too noisy and didn't bring out a nice string ring either.

Musician's friend has the best delivered price if anyone is considering them.
