Mal has quite a tasty list going.

There's definitely a lot of good food out there and it's not really realistic to have a single favorite.

Bulgogi is another dish I quite enjoy. The Peking duck I had in Beijing was pretty stellar (first time I ever had duck too).

Very true, it's hard to have one favorite meal but I do have a top 10, similar to Mal's

So many choices...if I'm thinking comfort food from my early years, it's "ham, cabbage, and potatoes" (yeah, I'm Irish).
If it's the past twenty years or so, well, Carnitas, pico de gallo, and Spanish rice will work nicely, thank you.

As Kirk hints, percocets and their ilk will cause constipation. Be forewarned!

That's if you do go.. All the anesthesia and pain meds will shut down your colon.. Ask anyone. They never tell you about this, and you are just dumb and happy taking the pain meds and time passes and you haven't passed anything in a long while.. Ask your Dr, he will advise you how to get through it.. I know what it is like dreaming about a big meal after surgery, mine was a turkey dinner, and then not have it go through you until 10 days later.. Just a thought..

Oh, a full turkey dinner is my favorite meal.. Mmmm Heritage turkeys rules..

10 days!?

I took percs for a couple days after my op (just 1 every few hours instead of 2) and I was backed up for 2.5 days (I'm used to going 4-5 times a day)....that was interesting... I can't imagine 10 days! :wow:

Stool softener did not help. The doctors don't tell you shit. Pun intended.

My wife and I share the same birth date and every year that we've been together this is the meal we have:

A grilled T-bone steak with sauted onions and mushrooms, a baked potato with butter and sour cream and bacon wrapped asparagus (or grilled bell peppers).

For dessert she makes homemade pecan butter tarts that blow my mind.

I have been on pain meds for the last 20 years or so. My daily regiment right now is morohine sulfate and Tylenol with Codeine. I have a pretty good poop pill prescribed when I need it.

Couldn't even begin to to have a favorite.

One cool thing about starving is it really makes you appreciate food on a higher level. :laugh2:

Sweet and Sour Grilled Red Snapper is excellent.
So is NY Style Pizza
Chicken Biryani from a good indian place
Gyro salad with an obscene amount of cucumber sauce
Chicken Adobo (Philippines style w/ vinegar)
Korean BBQ ribs with mama sita sauce.
Hamburgers on a pretzel bun
Grilled hot dogs on a toasted bun
Lobster tails
Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs
Fresh Shrimp from Georgia or South Carolina
Homemade pasta sauce that's been simmering for like 12 hours
Chili
Gumbo
Burritos
Fried Chicken (southern style, not that super thick, hard, greasy, crunchy crap the chains sell.)
Squirrel cooked on an open fire that's been smeared with bacon grease and has an onion and some garlic pinned up inside it. (don't knock it till you tried it, it's a lot like chicken legs.)

....lots of good food in the world. Way too many kinds to really have one particular favorite.

When I first heard about those pretzel buns, I was thinking "whatever, silly gimmick". Then I tried one, silly gimmick my ass, a burger on a pretzel bun is like something crafted for a God. Delicious.

I love Buddys Pizza from Detroit, just always hits the spot, best stuff.

There's another place back home called Nicks, it's owned by my parents next door neighbor. I ate there for the first time over the summer and had this 22 Oz cowboy cut steak, and it was the best steak I've ever had. I could go for one of them now.

Sometimes a good cornbeef and swiss on rye is pretty gnarly. Yet another place back home, Jimmy Dee's, man, they make that sandwich beautifully. Thing is enormous, so delicious.

Cap it off with a double espresso and let's hit some clubs...for dessert.

Pizza in a family owned place that you've never been to before, with old friends and cold beer.

Cut about an inch off of the whole log of provolone cheese, put some herbs de provence and olive oil on it and broil it. The chefs with real chops grill it (straight onto the grill) without letting it melt through and go into the fire...

I have never tried it but it does look good and I love fish. The only thing I'm not sure about is the "raw" part. My Mom eats it all the time and swears it keeps here young. She's 80 :laugh2:

You can get sushi that doesn't have raw fish in it. California rolls usually have Krab meat, for example.

Or there are ones with a thin piece of cooked shrimp butterfly spread across a little log of thumb-sized rice.

There's also one like that but instead of shrimp it's of sliver of Eel with teriyaki sauce. Not sure if it's steamed or smoked but it's cooked and pretty tasty.

There's lots of different kinds to try, not all of them have raw meat in them. :)
