What is this?

In the pot cavity on my LP there is a solid core bare wire. I am sure this is a ground wire, and supposed to be soldered to the pot mounting plate (I bought this axe as a basket case). But, where exactly is this wire going? I can not see it in any other cavity. Is it by chance grounded to the bridge mount insert or something?

I couldn't get to the pic but, if I remember correctly, you're right about the wire going to the bridge stud insert. Good luck turning the basket case into a good player!
