spme people ask rediculas prices on Ebay, there is a couple of sellers who list old Gibson parts at ridiculous prices like that, I see them relisting the same items over and over again.

I got a hundred bucks for one a couple of years ago. If you need one, an aftermarket part just wont cut it. There are only so many out there, thats worth something. $125? maybe, maybe not.

+1 , anything is worth what someone is willing to pay...fire sale prices usually net a fast sale, sky high prices will be slow if at all...but the right person with a strong enough need....you would be amazed what some folks are willing to pay for rare, hard to find items.

If someone has the cash to buy a '59, they'll likely want it to be as close to original as possible, and they'll likely have the cash to make it that way.

People pay crazy prices for old plastic. There was a guy on here or the other forum who refitted his R7 with vintage plastic. I just couldn't understand it.

I think most of us here would...and the price to be honest isnt that far fetched.....its not modding a modern guitar...its restoring a piece of history to as close its original form as possible. If someone were to by that for a modern reisuue...thats kinda goofy IMO...but if you have the axe and a busted,missing/replaced cover...you soul will beg for a major focal point on the face of the guitar to be correct.

Its supply and demand, you cant walk into a store and just buy a 59 pup cover, you cant call gibson and ask them to make an new original 59 pup cover.

Let this be a lesson to you young modders...save your replaced parts, all the way down to the wiring harness as you never know...if you find a use for em go and use em...if you dont, stash em.

How would you even know for sure it was a 59 cover?
