Those block inlays are confusing as hell. Dot are on there too. No binding.

The guitar is on a stand facing them.
-"Hey man, wouldn't it be cool to have like, four block inlays,
three trapezoid inlays and two dots?"
-"Wow Man, that'd be super cool, Man!"
-"Let's do it, Man. I'm taking it to the luthier tomorrow, Man!"

And he did.

No biggie. When I played bass I always plugged my Fender P bass into the drummer's bass drum.

That is as plausible an explanation as any.

I am pretty sure the photo I used was shared on an official Kinks social media platform.

It certainly appears that the photo os from an TV appearance where they are not plugged in.
