I have a LP standard on order (just shipped today) - its my first LP - I was wondering if anyone knows what gauge strings are usually put on by Gibson?

I play 10-46's on my other guitars.

Thanks!

Hi, I think they are shipped with .10s but I know alot of the guys here, myself included change to .11s as the difference is not as noticeable with the shorter scale on the LP and you get the added fullness bonus from the .11s

Gibson LPs come stock from the factory with 10s. You can use what you like. I know some guys that use 8s and some that use 13s, and everywhere in between. I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys, the first 1, 2,and 3 strings are 9s, and the 4, 5, and 6 strings are 10s. I love hybrid sets, you get smooth, easy bending on the first three strings, and a fuller, thicker sound with the second three.
