The example given in the classifieds is also a "7/10" condition example per the seller...not having seen it in person and not knowing the seller - I can't say if the average person would say 7/10 reflects true condition, or if they are just underselling something to avoid any issues with an unhappy buyer getting a used but cared for example...but I think we can agree the majority of 3 year old historics have nothing more than limited marking and are home use examples...so any additional wear would be discounted accordingly, and could represent a great deal. As Tim did say in his initial post - flame and wear are factors...my point is simply burst color is a factor too.
The above post also hits on a great point..just because someone got a steal, doesn't mean everyone should expect it. Sadly, that's how our mind goes though...we see a great price on something, miss out on it for whatever reason (too slow, no funds, not buying at the time) - when we are in the market - we want to pay no more than the last guy, and if the last guy got a steal...we want one too. Of course if the markets hot - it sorts itself out as there are plenty of other buyers...but in a slow market, it just adds to the pressure to adjust prices and feeds the feeling the market is terrible.
