Hi Guys,

Any Idea what's going on with this fretboard. Is it functional, or purely for looks.
Would you use it in your builds?

according to the ad "GOLD TOP, BOLT ON NECK, QUILTED TOP, 22 FRETS, LAST 6 FRET SCALLOP"

As it says in the ad, those are scalloped frets which are supposed to help string bending. I don't like them but I know others that do.

It's the first time encountered the scalloped fretboard. Although I saw scalloped nut from Roman's build. I know I won't benefit If I ever do that on my build. I rarely use those frets when playing :hmm:

So I guess for players doing tapping, this scalloped fretboard would be a disadvantage?

You'd have to ask Yngwie Malmstten about that one.:laugh2:

Those look like friggin' deep scallops. You don't need to go very deep to get the desired effect and you especially don't need to go all the way through the inlay.

That's pretty much worthless, being scalloped on the upper registers with big frets. What a waste.

I have a full scalloped Yngwie strat, first fret to last.. If you have a light touch then you really dont notice it. With a heavy touch you'll screw up the pitch. the string will go into the scallop and make the note sharp.
