I y first Les Paul in 1976 was a Univox. ..PAid 120 bucks for it ,, It had Gibson Pick ups in it . I traded it for a distortion Pedal and then a month later traded that for a chorus pedal ,, the 70’s were fun for equipment .That guitar played pretty good I must say ,, Wish I still had it ,,,

Mid-seventies, our local Grinnell's music store had a black Univox Paul in the window... I think it was under 200, like, 120 maybe. It was beautiful.
I wanted it so bad my stomach ached... got up the nerve to ask for an electric guitar for Christmas; didn't mention the Univox..
Didn't get it, but got a well-used early Rickenbacker 625!
It was well hidden in the early morning Christmas clutter... I found something odd... peeled the paper back off the headstock... Rickenbacker.
Holy smokes.
Back to bed, to lay wide awake for a couple hours. Hahaha!
