I bought three sets of these tubes, but can't remember where. Does anyone recognize them?

If I remember correctly they were cheap, but they sound great.

Shuguang. The stork thingie is their brand emblem.

Their 6V6 is an interesting little jobbie. It's got those oblong micas around the top spacer the way the old Tung-Sol 5881s did. These appear on a couple of old Soviet era valves, too.

Thanks guys!

They're probably considered junk by the tube aficionados, but I really like how they sound. I'll be buying more for future 6V6 builds.

I'm curious what you guys think of them.

I like the EL34s pretty ok so far. haven't tried the 6V6's.
the el84s and 12ax7s I use for testing new builds.

I have a pair of them that I've not yet tried. They're for a 5E3 build.

I recently did a bit of mucking around with new manufacture rectifiers, and found that only the Shuguang hit the numbers of the old Mullard GZ34 I have. Neither the JJ nor the Sovtek made it. They tested the same as an old 5V4. Details here.

A little while after that I came across this interesting little read from a bloke who claims to have been involved in the development of that valve. It's very interesting, if it's true.
