I'm thinking about replacing the SD Alnico II Pro (neck) on my 2007 R8, putting on the stock BB #2, leaving the SD Pearlygates in the bridge position.

May it be a pairing?

personally I prefer the BB's over Pearly's as well, they just seem to have something extra about them... [of course no 2 pick ups are exactly the same]

I must admit, I don't remember very well how BB1 and BB2 sound like. I replaced them after a while, when aI bought the R8.

And I also bought my actual '85 JCM8000 after 5/6 month the R8, so it already had the Alnico II/Pearly on.

Actually, I found the Pearly a little bit too bright ('50s wiring with coil split and 500k pots), perfect for Southern rock stuff, which I like a lot, but I don't play only that kind of music.

I don't want a muddy sounding neck-pu
